How to Write an Ode
An ode is a lyric poem that addresses a subject with elevated language, deep feeling, and often elaborate structure. It’s a poem of praise, celebration, or meditation.
Three Types of Ode
- Pindaric Ode — Strophe, antistrophe, and epode. Grand and ceremonial.
- Horatian Ode — Consistent stanza form, more meditative and personal.
- Irregular Ode — Free in form but elevated in tone. Most modern odes.
